Review of Texanna, Oklahoma

Texanna education
Star Rating - 6/17/2015
The Texanna rural school closed in 1968. There was only two teachers that taught all eight grades toward the end before it closed. The orginal Texanna school burned in 1951. The church at that time opened its door to the school. The church bought a clapboard building and moved it to Texanna. Known as the Texanna Assembly of God. The brick building is still standing in the heart of Texanna and we are in the process of restoring this wonderful little two room 1904 building. If anyone would like to donate Contact Linda Montgomery 918-689-3750. She has also written a poem about Texanna Country School.

My aunt was one of those teachers She taught for 40 years and never missed a day due to illness. I heard she bought each student a present at Christmas. Her name was Portie Duncan.
