Review of Corvallis, Oregon

ambience & cost
Star Rating - 4/7/2013
Corvallis has all the charm of a quaint, semi-rural community--with a river running through it, farms and outdoor recreation areas nearby--plus the intellectual stimuli provided by a state university and companies like Hewlett Packard. As a San Francisco Bay Area refugee, I'm reluctant to elaborate since I don't want to encourage an influx of California emigrants.

You are absolutley right!!! we are buying a house here to RETIRE among quiet, self-respecting people, not to "adapt" to an influx of Californians who already destroyed Salt Lake City, where I lived in the past. That city went from being affordable, beautiful and safe to crime ridden, unaffordable and full of drugs and violent gang-related crime from our new Californian residents. Oh and for any Californians thinking they can get a free-pass in Corvallis....work is VERY hard to find, you have to pass background AND drug tests, speak english, have a valid license and no criminal history. If you want to come here for a free place to crash on assistance, this might not be the place for you. If wanting to live around clean, safe hard working people offends you, I'm sorry to be the one who had to do it today---but most people in Corvallis do have a certain standard of living---as they should.

So...it's ok for you to get out of California, but not so much the rest of us? Well aren't you elitist and special? You wouldn't happen to also be a millenial, would you?
