Streets are safe in the local area, though there are less safe areas within 5 blocks. Good food, many nationalities, we are renting a condo at the end of Marin Blvd just by Liberty Harbor. The ferries (NY Waterway) make it easy and pleasant to get to the city and we have a light rail and a subway style train that also make transportation convenient. Highly recommend for singles and families. Read More

Formerly one of the best kept secrets in the New York metro area, the Grove Street neighborhood of Jersey City, NJ benefited from low crime, the lowest cost of living (esp. housing) within 15 minutes of Manhattan, a vibrant artistic and ethnically diverse culture, and surprisingly easy access to everything New York has to offer. 2007 - 2010 will see the completion of several massive “luxury” residential condo developments that will significantly increase the population of this already bustling area. I do hope the characteristic independent and family-owned restaurants and boutiques will be able to hold out against the influx of anonymous repetitive national franchises that inevitably follow such yuppie warehouses (yes, I’m a yuppie too), but only time will Read More
