Middleburg not that bad There are a lot of people on here writing pesimistic views of the Jacksonville area. All I can say is that it's really what you make of it. We moved here from Southern Maryland, about 45 minutes south of DC. If you live in Middleburg, you're resigning to the fact that you are going to commute to everything, and if you're alright with that, you can find a lot of house and property for a small amount of money. We purchased our very nice home in a nice community for $145k. The same house would have cost us $500k in Maryland. I don't think the job market here is as generous as it is up north, but that's the trade off we made. Middleburg has a lot of upgrades happening right now with new hospital, new shopping areas moving in, road expansions making it more accessible to neighboring communities, and the FL toll road 21 in the works. We found that right now is a great time to buy a house in Middlburg as there is a serious growth explosion about to happen in this area in the next 5 years. There isn't much to do in Middlburg, but such is the nice thing about living right outside of a major city. Blanding Blvd, while it can be a real hassle traffic wise, is actually very convenient as just about everything you could possible need is located on that one road. Real downfalls: rednecks, religious zealots, seriously hateful old white people, Fox News constantly playing in McDonalds, you get the point. Truth is, home is where you make and Middleburg can be a great place if want it to be and it can be a horrible place if you want it to be. I'm a liberal, aetheist, democrat and if I can find peace and happiness in Middleburg, then anyone can.
