I have lived here in Roseburg for over 30 years. I have never once in my life heard someone here say the N word. Perhaps it has to do with the social groups you choose to spend time with? My new step mother just moved here from Vietnam and has made friends easily and has met many people taking English classes each week in town. Do we have "rednecks"? Absolutely. There are also multi-millionaires, veterans, and intellectuals. There is not a lot of extra entertainment options. It's just a small community where you can slow down and enjoy nature.
