Great for singles or couples with no children.
Having lived in a variety of places in the United States, a job transfer led us recently to the New Orleans metro area. We chose to settle in a suburb (Belle Chasse) for its slightly safer quality. Overall the New Orleans area is an ideal place for singles looking to network, or couples with no children. It is NOT a family oriented city, as crime is very high and education quality is very low. There are cultural things to do, however they tire fairly quickly. Bourbon Street is very touristy, but the French Quarter does have a lot to offer those in the way of heritage and entertainment. The weather is top notch from October-May. June-September are VERY hot/humid, with the strong possibility of tropical storms/hurricanes.
