Great Small Town
St. Charles is a nice safe and clean community with a very lively downtown that straddles the Fox River. Downtown St. Charles has around 20 or so restraunts and pubs some with outdoor seating. There is also a historic hotel, some neat architecture, expansive parks and a great turn of the century performing arts theater. It is a great weekend scene with bikers and walker passing through downtonw on the river trail, antique shoppers, canoes, people fishing in waders at the base of the spill over damn, outdoor cafe/pub scene, boutiques, et... The town is also is bordered by forest preserves and farmland.
