Cortez is a horrible dirty boring town. I've live on this area and cannot recommend it to anyone. Cortez and Montezuma county are horrible. School are bad. After meeting several local teachers I am surprised they have a college degree. Surprisingly poor grammar and dress like homeless people. There is no entertainment. People here thing entertainment means going to a bar and getting drunk. The restaurants are horrible. Bad good and really bad services. Very few are even clean. The local government is corrupt and the police dept is incompetent and bullies. The local sheet of dept is worse. The population is low class and very undereducated. Don't even attempt to have an intelligent conversation. Conversation is about the local car races and the bars. Medical services are very poor. Doctors ate in poor health, over weight and just lazy. The hospital is dirty understaffrd and poorly run. Shopping is limited to ask mart and 2 grocery stores. Just a sad, poor, dirty town with nothing going on. I am moving as soon as possible. Oh and the locals refuse to wear masks. Trump is worshiped here.
