no fear here My family for more than 4 generations have resided in the town of Romney. It is common for people here to never lock their doors, even when out of town. I walk often after dark all over town and have a complete feeling of safety. I have done so for all my adult life. My children played all over the neighborhood and rode their bikes to their granparents since thy were 8 or so.The people look out for each others children out and about. I would feel safe to knock on about any door for help. In all the years I have lived here my car was stolen and taken for a joy ride and found a block away worse for the wear. Once in a long while you hear these things and most of the time some one left thier keys in the car. Everyone I know has a safe feeling and don't feel threatened . It feels like a very safe and homey town.
