re: Living in the Asheville area - 9/27/2014 I relocated from the northern Great Lakes area to Waynesville, NC in 2004. I had very little problem with the locals, most were accepting. The few that did have issues, I just told them I was tired of snow and FL was too hot. I stayed there for 6 years before going north to TN which has an even lower cost of living but have a hard time with 'outsiders'.
