A cost comes with living within close proximity to
I live in Crofton, MD, which is approximately 25 miles east of Washington, DC, 22 miles south of Baltimore and nine miles west of Annapolis. As you can see, Crofton is a very centrally located community providing access to the three cities I mention. Such close proximity provides access to many activities, whether they be city oriented or more aquatic, e.g. Annapolis. I've enjoyed living in the area, but a drawback is the cost of living is high. The cost of housing has grown exponentially in the last five years to the point that I don't know how so many people can afford half a million dollar homes, which isn't getting you much more than a modest 4 bedroom, 2 1/2 home in the burbs. Yes, there are cheaper alternatives, but for a decent single family home in a average subdivision, that is what it will cost. The cost of housing alone has made me reconsider calling the DC area home, as numerous attractive cities provide quality life for a fraction of the housing cost.
