Quiet low-key place with great weather
I've lived here for a year and I love it. The weather is great, the beach is 10 minutes away, Great American Melodrama is in Oceano with good fun theater. The part I live in has wild peacocks roaming around, which I think is quite fun. The area is relaxed and low-key. I haven't noticed any gang problems at all, despite the previous reviewer's comments. Go 15 minutes away to Santa Maria and you'll find the gangs all over the place. It's 15 minutes to San Luis Obispo, which is a college town with an art theater called the Palm Theatre. Relax here, then go to San Luis Obispo if you need some excitement.
