Housing The Newport area is very beautiful place to live in and the population is just the right size to raise a family. Lots to do. Unfortunately the cost of housing is exteremly expensive. The average cost to buy a home is about $400,000 and just as expensive to rent ($2000+) for a decent place. Plus the winters are pretty cold so your heat is pretty high as well. The summers are great but short.
