Happy resident for over 26 years I'd like to update and clarify what others have reported about Laguna Niguel. My wife and I moved to Laguna Niguel in 1990; we had just married and both of us owned other residents [Corona del Mar and Fountain Valley, Ca.]. We wanted to start fresh. We are upper middle class [annual adjusted retirement income $115K to $125K], retired [no debt] and could live almost any where; are goals were to live in a good climate, have a nice house [about 3,000 sq. ft. with a view] in a upper-middle class neighborhood. We wanted to be close to shopping, good restaurants and entertainment. Laguna Niguel has all those things. When we purchased our home in 1990 we paid almost $400,000 and for the past 3 years we had unsolicited offers between $1 million to $1.1 million and it would take more than that to get us to leave our lovely home in Kite Hill, Laguna Niguel. The weather is much better than published nationally. They tie Laguna Niguel to Santa Ana a large semi-slum city about 10 miles North/East of here where you would not want to walk on the city streets after dark; while our city is beautiful and safe. It's true it costs a lot to live here, but it's worth every cent! Laguna Niguel citizens often refer to living here as living in Paradise.
