Not a fan of Houston Metro area We moved here 2 years ago from Colorado. People ask why and I have no good answer for them aside from we wanted to be a little closer to some family. We can honestly say we hate the Houston metropolitan area. We have lived in a few areas of the country and want to get out of here as fast as we can.... League city is basically urban sprawl outside of Houston. The schools are good.... housing costs appear to be "low" but factor in the ridiculous property tax and it's really not that much bang for your buck and you can get much more home elsewhere in the country. Traffic is a big issue. There is a lot of "keeping up with the Jonses" and not much diversity in League City - everyone is the same it seems. The weather is stifling. They keep building and building. Did I mention traffic? Houston is HUGE, spread out and ugly. League City has a lot of strip malls with the same stores in them - every corner has a nail place, donut shop, mattress store and dentist in addition to the usual chains. Nothing really stands out as unique. We moved as we would be closer to some family, but that draw is not enough to keep us here. We are working on an exit strategy out. If you have lived elsewhere in the country, you won't care for it here (at least that is what we have gathered from others we have spoken to that have moved down here). If you are from Houston, then League City isn't that bad. If you "have" to live in the Houston Metro area for work or something - then this is a good choice. But if you don't "have" to be in the Houston Metro area, I would choose another geographical location. Pros: schools no snow OK place if you "have" to be in the Houston Metro area Cons: weather traffic no personality urban sprawl taxes
