Depends what you are looking for Been living in the area for 3 years, Rifle for half of that. The city recently upgraded the water facilities, and the north half of I-70 no longer has the nasty hard water problem. Businesses have a hard time sticking around, there's one bar, a Walmart and a City Market, and a church on every other block. The food is ok, but it seriously lacks variety. Unless you like 50 choices of bad Mexican food. The people are nice enough, but there are a lot of high country red-necks with guns and bibles. The best part about Rifle, is its the most affordable town to live in the Roaring Fork Valley, and only an hour and 10 minutes away from Aspen, 25 away from Glenwood Springs. However, there are some awesome things about Rifle too...like the Roan Bookcliffs that rise up behind the city, Rifle Falls, Rifle Gap and Rifle Mountain Park, which is very beautiful. Tons of ATV trails, and the Flat tops are less than an hour away. But the best of all...we have a large statue of a cowboy riding a trout in Centennial park downtown. That pretty much sums up Rifle.
