A great place if you can stand the winter wind My husband, dogs, and I have lived in Cheyenne for almost two years. The pros: Cheyenne is a really nice place, especially if you have kids or dogs. The weather in the summer is amazing! It's warm, but not too hot, with no humidity. There are hail storms in the summer, but they haven't been too bad on the side of town we are in. There are miles of parks and trails to use for walking or biking. Even biking on the main roads isn't too bad! The library is superb, there is a nice botanical garden, and national parks aren't too far away. Crime is low, but I did have a run in with someone trespassing on my property this week. The locals are generally friendly and welcoming. There is lots of shopping in town and whatever you can't find here you will find 45 minutes down the road in Fort Collins. The breweries downtown (Accomplice, Daniel Marks, and Black Eagle) are phenomenal! There are 8 Starbucks throughout town so you're never far from your coffee fix. The college campus here is really nice and offers a lot to the community. The cons: The wind in the winters is BRUTAL. We would live here forever if not for the wind. It's so bad that I don't leave the house unless I have to on those super windy days (a majority of the days in the winter). It's not terribly cold here in the winters, there is a fair amount of snow, but the wind makes it unbearable! Housing prices here are outrageous and rentals are slim pickins. I would say the cost of living is pretty high here. Cheaper than Colorado, but still pretty high compared to other parts of the country. Overall, I would recommend living in Cheyenne as long as you can stand the wind in the winters :)
