Fort Yukon, Alaska is home to a small but close-knit community of approximately 860 people. Despite its size, the town has access to a variety of educational opportunities for those living within its borders. The school system in Fort Yukon is overseen by the Yukon Koyukuk School District and is comprised of three schools: Fort Yukon School, Arctic Village School, and Venetie Tribal School. Each school has been rated as proficient by the Alaska Department of Education and provides students with an education that meets their needs while preparing them for post-secondary success. In addition to providing traditional academic learning opportunities, each school also offers classes in arts and culture that provide students with insight into traditional Yup'ik culture. Additionally, the schools often offer extracurricular activities such as basketball and volleyball teams as well as other fun events throughout the year.
