Gloster, LA is a small town located in East Texas with a population of just over 3,000. Despite its size, the politics of Gloster are an important part of the community. The town has a Mayor and five City Council members who are elected by the citizens for two-year terms. The Mayor and Council have the responsibility to ensure city services such as fire and police protection, garbage collection, road repairs, parks and recreation areas are maintained. They also provide local businesses with regulatory services such as building permits and zoning laws that help maintain order in the community. The current Mayor is Christine Thomas who was elected in 2019 and currently serves her first term leading the town in its political efforts.
