Bradford, Maine is a small town located in Penobscot County and has a population of about 900 people. It is an idyllic community with a strong sense of community and neighborliness. The town has an active government, led by the Select Board which is composed of three elected members. The Board meets regularly to discuss local issues and make decisions that affect the Town of Bradford. Local elections are held every two years for the Select Board and other positions such as Town Meeting Moderator, Fire Chief, and Parks & Recreation Commission Chair, among others. All residents over the age of 18 are eligible to vote in these elections. There is also representation at the county level with a representative from Bradford on the Penobscot County Commission which meets monthly to consider regional issues. In addition to these representatives, there are numerous non-profit organizations working together for the betterment of the community. These organizations work hard to bring quality programs to Bradford, provide resources for its citizens, and ensure that all residents have access to resources they need.
