Searsport, Maine is a quaint coastal town located in the state's Midcoast region. It has a small but engaged population of about 2,530 people that are actively involved in their local politics. The Town Council serves as the governing body of the town and is responsible for making decisions that affect the lives of its citizens. The council members are elected by the public every two years and consist of five volunteers from different areas of Searsport who are dedicated to representing their constituents' interests in all matters of local government. Additionally, the town holds regular meetings with its citizens in order to discuss important issues and ensure that everyone’s voice is heard. Every four years, there are municipal elections when residents can vote for candidates who will serve on various boards and commissions such as school committees or planning boards.
