Hartleton, Pennsylvania is a small town of about 5,000 people located in the south-central part of the state. It is a rural community with mostly agricultural and forestry industries, but has seen an increase in tourism over the past few years due to its proximity to larger cities such as Philadelphia. The political climate in Hartleton is generally considered conservative, but there are a variety of candidates from both major parties that run for local offices. The town is currently represented in the Pennsylvania House of Representatives by Republican incumbent Tom Smith and in the State Senate by Democrat Pat Cusack.
