Loretto, TN is a small town located in Lawrence County. The town has a rich history dating back to 1818 when it was founded by Benjamin Litton and his brothers, Elijah and Thomas. It is currently home to around 1,400 residents. Local politics in Loretto revolve around the Town of Loretto Board of Mayor and Aldermen which governs the day-to-day operations of the town. The board consists of five members that are elected by the town's citizens every four years. These five members are responsible for setting policies that will benefit the town and its citizens such as zoning regulations, enforcement of codes, and authorizing expenditures from the budget. Furthermore, Loretto has two state representatives who work on behalf of their constituents in Nashville at the Tennessee State House of Representatives. To ensure that their voices are heard, local residents can contact their representatives to voice their opinion on legislation or other important matters affecting the community.
