Neah Bay, WA is a small town located on the Makah Indian Reservation in the northwest corner of Washington State. It is home to a diverse population of Native Americans, Europeans and others who live peacefully side by side. Politics in Neah Bay are dominated by the Makah Tribe and their Tribal Council. The Tribal Council holds elections every two years to determine the leadership for the Tribe, setting policies that govern such areas as health care, education, economic development, environmental protection and cultural preservation. The current Tribal Council consists of four members from each of the four voting districts in Neah Bay and they are responsible for representing the interests of their constituents when it comes to government affairs. Local elections within Neah Bay are also held for other positions such as mayor and city council members who are primarily responsible for managing city services.
