Placer County is located in the state of California and is home to a diverse population. The county has two Board of Supervisors, four members who are elected by district as well as an Assessor, Auditor-Controller, Clerk-Recorder and Sheriff who are all elected at large. Placer County is a Republican stronghold, having voted Republican in every presidential election since 1948 with the exception of Bill Clinton in 1996. Placer County also elects local representatives to the California State Senate and Assembly, all of whom have historically been Republicans. R if the Republican Party candidate won, D for the Democrat and I for the Independent. The six elections (2000, 2004, 2008, 2012, 2016, 2020) would be expressed as six-letter word (R R D R R).
