Guernsey County is located in eastern Ohio. It is home to a population of just over 40,000 people. The county seat is Cambridge, and the county government consists of three commissioners who are elected on a nonpartisan ballot to serve four-year terms. The commissioners appoint a county administrator who oversees the day-to-day operations of the county’s departments. Guernsey County also has an elected sheriff and prosecutor, along with other elected officials such as the treasurer, recorder, engineer, auditor, and clerk of courts. These offices are responsible for facilitating elections within the county and providing services related to tax collection and land records. Guernsey County residents have access to many state representatives from both the Republican and Democratic parties in order to voice their concerns on local matters. In addition to these representatives, Guernsey County citizens also have access to federal representatives from both political parties to address any larger issues at hand.
