Vermilion County is located in east central Illinois and is home to a vibrant community with rich culture and history. It has several towns and villages including Danville, Tilton, Potomac, Catlin, Westville, Hoopeston, Bismarck and Rossville. The county seat is Danville. Politics in Vermilion County are overseen by the county board, made up of nine members elected at large from each of the county's nine districts. The Board formulates laws and enacts budgetary measures for the entire county. In addition to the Board of Commissioners, there are 12 representatives in the General Assembly which includes 8 members of the Illinois House of Representatives and 4 members in the Illinois Senate.
