The county seat is Slayton and the offices for local government are located there. The county government consists of a Board of Commissioners with three members elected by district, a County Administrator, and various departments that provide services to the citizens of Murray County. In addition to these officials, the Murray County area also elects members to serve in the Minnesota State House of Representatives and Senate. A variety of political issues are addressed at all levels of local government in Murray County, such as infrastructure, economic development, public safety, health care, transportation, education and environmental protection.
