Nobles County is located in the southwest corner of Minnesota, near the Iowa border. It is a rural county with a population of 21,372 people. The county has a board of commissioners that oversees the county's governance, which includes setting policy and budgets as well as implementing laws within the county. Through a direct election process, voters choose five members to serve on the Board of Commissioners. These members are responsible for making sure that services are provided to citizens in an efficient and effective manner. There are two major political parties in Nobles County: Republican and Democrat. The Republican party holds majority control on the commission, although Democrats have held office in recent years.
