Niobrara County, located in Wyoming, is a rural county with a population of 2,447 according to the 2018 US Census. It is primarily agricultural and ranching land, and its economy relies heavily on natural resources. The county government is based in Lusk, the county seat. The county follows a commission form of government structure with three elected commissioners who represent the citizens of Niobrara County. These commissioners are responsible for setting the budget for the county as well as administering services such as public safety, health care and education. At the state level, Niobrara County is represented by members of both houses of the Wyoming State Legislature - two representatives and one senator - that are elected by local voters every two years. The citizens of Niobrara County also have access to federal representation through Wyoming's sole congressional district in Washington D.C., currently held by Republican Liz Cheney since 2017.
