If you like hiking, El Paso is the place. There is Hueco Tanks and the Franklin mountains that you can enjoy. Its hot so make sure you bring plenty of water and always hike with a buddy. Nearby is Carlsbad Caverns. Great cave dwelling and not to worry if you like the lake, there is a man built lake nearby, Elephant Butte. It is a bit of a drive, hour and a half from El Paso. Great Outdoors and tons of culture to go around.
