Very nice small town with decent shopping and restauruants. 25 minute drive to Knoxville for access to more selection of shopping, dining and arts & entertainment. Close to the Smokey Mountains and several lakes which offer great fishing. Traffic is bearable. Friendly people and good schools. Can't go wrong if you are looking for a great plave to raise a family.

Born and Raised in Maryville, TN - 1/6/2014

Wonderful place to live! Just 20 minutes away from Knoxville and about 45 minutes away from the Great Smoky Mountain National Park. Lots of outdoor activities available with many parks, greenways, and lakes.

Beautiful mountains and the arts - 2/25/2010

I grew up in Tennessee but only moved back to Maryville a year and a half ago. I'd forgotten how much there is to do and see here, but I didn't forget the beauty of the Smoky Mountains and the Cherokee National Forest. We are surrounded by beauty everywhere and there is something to do for everyone! We are roughly 30 minutes from Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. There is every type of outdoor sport you can imagine such as hiking, canoeing, white water rafting, hang gliding, water skiing and snow skiing just to name a few. Pigeon Forge and Gatlinburg offer water parks, musical dinner shows, tons of outlet malls, specialty shops, a great aquarium and countless other activities. Maryville college is located here and is a private college rich in the arts having just opened its new Clayton Center for the Arts. We have a lovely downtown with nice restaraunts, cafe's, bakeries, some night spots and quaint shops. We are only 20 minutes away from Knoxville, TN and there is great shopping there, not to mention the University of Tennessee. There are four distinct seasons here and every one of them is beautiful in its own regard. With all the activities that abound here my favorite thing still to do in the early morning and the evening is to watch the sun rise and set over the beautiful Smoky Mountains that I call home!

What a wonderful place to live. - 3/18/2008

My Dad was in the Air Force for 24 years. We wound up settling in this wonderful town when my Dad retired, and I have been here ever since - going on 32 years! I have two children and have every confidence in our school systems. We are close to everything - the Smoky Mountains, various lakes, big entertainment in Knoxville (concerts, Knoxville Opera Company, Knoxville Symphony, etc) and the Foothills Fall Festival which was voted best in the South. No rushing here and there. Just sit back, relax and enjoy the view.

Culture in Maryville - 8/3/2007

Have never seen such lack of culture in my life. Religious Hillbillys everywhere and funny thing, they don't know better. Where in the world did this place and people come from ? Lived here for 18 months...have not ahted to live in any place as I do here.

Unv]believable. - 6/17/2007

Lived here for 15 months. Dumbest people I have ever seen in my 60 years of life. Lack of culture permeates the area. If you are white trash you will feel at home.
