Laid back living near the big city - 10/8/2012

I find McKinney, TX to be a laid back family town, but is close to the big and lively excitement of Dallas. However, you don't have to go to Dallas to find entertainment, dinning, and family activities. McKinney provides a safe environment for your family to be active in many outdoor activities, and the school system is one of the finest in the state. If you are looking for a safe, yet active community with good jobs and healthcare, please look at McKinney, Texas.

Nice Town - 7/27/2012

Nice town to raise family. Crime is love in west Mckinney, family oriented with more to do that other Dallas Suburbs. Lots of shopping with outlets and malls. Traffic has increased with rapid growth. Schools are good for those college bound. Home prices and rent average with lots of inventory to chose from. Still new home building and lower than the cost of the average price, can find a new home under 200.00. Historic down town trendy, and many major employers near by in Frisco or Plano. North Texas university and Texas Women U. within 30-40 mins. Close to Dallas Toll Roads. Over all Mckinney is a great town. Conservative town, clean and new.

Unbelievelable Value - 12/8/2008

In a day and age where you tend to get less and less for you money McKinney, TX is a hidden gem when it comes to affordable homes. In reality the entire DFW area (except northern Dallas Co.) is very affordable. What set's McKinney apart is the general beauty (not something North Texas is known for) and the city's commitment to quality real estate development. McKinney is very hilly and tree covered. Many areas have lakes and ponds with many natural trees and greenbelts. This offers lots of natural beauty, screening from city noise and other homes. Almost all roads are winding and tree lined. Crape Myrtles fill the medians of pretty much every street. Each development (commercial or residential) is well planned and integrated nicely with the overall look and feel of McKinney. Good examples of this are, the downtown renovation, the shops at Eldorado and central (west side), Stonebridge Ranch, Tucker Hill (a must see) and the heart of Craig Ranch. One would think all the beauty would cost an fortune, but it call all be yours for roughly $90-$110 a square foot. I have not found a better value anywhere in the country so close to a large metro area. With all the natural beauty and great homes prices this is the only place in DFW I would consider living.

Unique Historic District and Old Town Square - 8/26/2007

McKinney like many Texas suburban towns has been overtaken by Urban sprawl New streets, schools, parks and ammentities come along with 1,000's of new homes. What makes McKinney different is the intact old town square with it's original courthouse renevated into a performace hall. Charming shops & restaurants have been envigorated on the square. The area west, north and south of the square is filled with blocks and blocks of restored and well-maintained historic homes built from the late 1800's through 1930's Many fun events throughout the year are focused on the Historic District and Town Square

Best Suburb in Metroplex (DFW) - 2/1/2006

I have lived in McKinney for 3 years after originally living in Dallas for 6 months. It is by far the best suburb in on the Dallas side of the area and I would say Ft. Worth side as well, but I'm not as familiar. Cheap homes in a beautiful community. It was America's fastest growing city in the 2000 census (under 100K pop.) It has a nice downtown area with tons of unique shops and restaurants. The only draw backs are it is going through growing pains in terms of road construction. This will get worse before they get better. :) It is far north so the commute to anything south of Plano is going to take you more than 1 hour. If your considering a suburb consider McKinney you won't regret it!
