re: LOOKING FOR A QUIET BUT NOT BORING ENVIRONMENT -
3/24/2015Hi. Well since this is listed under Texas I would suggest where I live McKinney. It is quiet. You're 38 miles from Dallas. It's also relatively safe. The people are nice. And it's pretty.Grant there's not a ton to do up here but compared with some other places it's not bad. There's plenty of shopping in Fairview two exits down. And plenty of colleges. The Texas women's university is in Denton about thirty minutes away. And ut is nearby. But we do have humidity in the summer. However this is north Texas so it's not as hot as other areas in the state. Another thing if you're not stuck on Texas you might check out north Carolina. Durham has a lot of schools and college is way cheaper than here.Plus the people are laid back. ( I'm thinking of moving there). Anyway just some thoughts. I'm from Kansas city mo.But I've lived in the Dallas area for 21 years since I was a teen. Dallas itself though I love and it's definitely fun if you're in your twenties but it's not affordable anymore and housing is way overpriced. Plus it's not the dallas I loved and grew up in. Everyone's from los Angeles now and it's very different. Keep in mind my dad's from L.A. and while I love California I never was quite bananas over that city visiting as a kid. Those are my thoughts. Good luck to you. Hope this helps!

Urban for Suburban -
3/24/2015It's realitivly alright. Mostly quiet slightly boring to me but then I moved herd 7 years ago from Dallas. Schools are good though. Houses are nice for the money. It is pretty and has plenty of wildlife. Not to far from Dallas however since everyone from every other state has moved to Dallas it can take over two hours to get back to McKinney and plenty of tolls that are steep unless you take 75 highway. Not a lot of good restaurants here or shopping but plenty of supermarkets and great healthcare facilities. So if you just want pretty, quiet, like to cook. This is your kind of place.Lots of birds and wildlife. And crepe myrtles. Lots of crepe myrtles. Do be wary of shopping downtown however you can't return anything. Local Yocal meat market though I like down there. Hated it when I first moved here. But it's grown on me and I like to cook. :)
