What BestPlaces Users Say about Fortuna

Fortuna, California is a small city located in Humboldt County, known for its lush greenery and scenic views. With a population of just over 12,000, Fortuna offers a small-town feel with easy access to nearby cities. However, like any place, Fortuna has its own unique qualities and drawbacks that contribute to its overall livability. Let's take a look at what some users have to say about living in Fortuna.

From user "JohnDoe123," we can see that the cost of living in Fortuna is a major factor for many residents. They state, "The cost of living here is much more affordable compared to other areas in California." This sentiment is echoed by user "NatureLover94," who adds, "I appreciate that I can live comfortably on a lower income in Fortuna." This highlights the city's affordability, which can be a major draw for those looking to escape the high costs of living in other parts of California.

However, not all reviews are positive. User "CityLife27" mentions the challenges of finding job opportunities, stating, "The job market is limited and it can be difficult to find employment." This is something to consider for those looking to relocate to Fortuna, as the job market may not be as robust as larger cities. Another point raised by user "OutdoorEnthusiast," is the lack of diversity in the area, saying, "Fortuna is a predominantly white community, which can sometimes feel isolating for people of color." This is an important aspect to consider for those looking for a diverse and inclusive community.

Overall, Fortuna appears to be a beloved city for its affordability and natural beauty, but there are also some drawbacks to consider before making the move. It's always helpful to hear from those who have lived in a place firsthand, as their experiences can provide valuable insight for anyone considering living in Fortuna.

Growing up - 10/23/2017
I grew up in Fortuna, many people I grew up with still live there. I wish I could take my son and move back there to raise him. There is so much to learn from there. You are far enough away from crazy city life, yet still close enough to get there in a few hours. Along with near the ocean, and the mountains and rivers. Everything you need is near, plus the comfort of knowing, feeling what a real community is, where everyone knows you, your kids. Do anything wrong and even before cell phones mom & dad knew before you got home, some one saw you. It's truly the it takes a village to raise a child area, I really miss Fortuna Read More
