Summarized reviews from BestPlaces.net:

1. "I've lived in Orangevale for over 10 years and it's been a great place to raise my family. The schools are top-notch and the community is very tight-knit. However, it can be a bit boring for young adults and there isn't much to do in terms of nightlife." - Janet A.

2. "I moved to Orangevale for its affordable housing and convenient location. The cost of living is much lower compared to nearby cities, but there's still plenty of amenities and shopping options nearby. The only downside is the traffic can get bad during rush hour." - Mark S.

3. "Orangevale is a beautiful place to live with its tree-lined streets and parks. It's also very safe and has a low crime rate. However, there isn't much diversity and it can feel a bit homogenous at times." - Maria G.

4. "I've lived in Orangevale my whole life and while I love the small-town feel, it can also feel stagnant and lacking in opportunities. Many people end up commuting to nearby cities for work. Also, the summers can get very hot and there isn't much shade in certain areas." - Ryan P.

In fact, if we do not have compact development, the local Blueprint project predicts the Sacramento region will be *much* less rural. Compact development is the only friend rural living has really.

As for transit: The Folsom light rail stop is a short drive, or bus ride away. Unfortunately, Folsom and Sacramento Regional Transit do not coordinate their bus routes, so it's actually more convenient to drive to a park-n-ride than to take transit.

This lack of coordination is fairly typical for the Sacramento region, so Orangevale is no Read More

Think Twice - 7/7/2008
Think twice before purchasing property in one of the more expensive places to live. Orangevale is losing its small town flavor while be buffeted or "tucked into" other more favorable places like Granite Bay and Rocklin, or Fair Oaks. There is not much to be offerred here except very nice parks and a great community center. If you blink, you will miss it while being enmassed by other more profitable places. It is almost pretty, but move to Folsom just up the road to get the best bang for your buck! Everything is clean there and lots prettier.
I think very much, that Orangevale used to have a real country identity. But I can tell the third generation dosen't want to buy into it. Identity Read More
