What BestPlaces Users Say about Ramona

Ramona, California is a small town located in San Diego County. It has a population of around 21,000 and is known for its beautiful landscape and small-town charm. Many people choose to live in Ramona for its peaceful atmosphere and affordable housing options. However, like any place, there are pros and cons to living in Ramona. In order to get a better understanding of what it's like to live in this particular place, I have included comments from various users on BestPlaces.net who have shared their experiences and opinions about living in Ramona.

- "I have lived in Ramona for 20 years and have loved every minute of it. The community is tight-knit and friendly, and the views of the mountains are breathtaking. It's a great place to raise a family." - Emily G.

- "Ramona is a hidden gem in Southern California. It's away from the hustle and bustle of the city, but still close enough to enjoy all that San Diego has to offer. The cost of living is reasonable and the people here are genuine and welcoming." - Jason M.

- "I moved to Ramona from a big city and it was definitely an adjustment. While the scenery is beautiful, there isn't much to do in terms of entertainment or nightlife. But if you're looking for a peaceful and safe place to live, Ramona is perfect." - Sarah T.

- "I have lived in Ramona my whole life and while I do love it, there are some drawbacks. The traffic on Main Street can get pretty bad during rush hour and the summers can be scorching hot. But I wouldn't trade the small-town community for anything." - Michael B.

Overall, it seems that the majority of users have positive things to say about living in Ramona. The friendly community, stunning views, and affordable housing are all factors that make this town a desirable place to live. However, there are some challenges such as limited entertainment options and high temperatures in the summer. Ultimately, it seems that for those looking for a quiet and picturesque place to call home, Ramona may be the perfect fit.

Great little community in the Valley of the Sun - 7/29/2023
Ok, Ramona is a small country town that has its history in Poultry and Cattle. Those days are long gone…….kinda.
We still have lots of open spaces between living development and enough shopping to keep you here should you need Ie 2 major grocery stores, some discount groceries and too many Mexican restaurants. Yes we have fast food, auto mechanics, and a Kmart that closed a few years back and yet to be reoccupied
We have a strong working bedroom community here. A lot of military, police, & fire dept that raise their family’s. Schools are decent and even though many kids leave and go off to college, surprisingly most swear they will come back and raise their kids here. That says a lot
Believe it or not, kids stay a little younger here, longer. Which is kinda cool. People take time to talk to you and look you in the eye. Yes there’s crime, drugs and a few rehab facilities here……but nothing is crazy off the charts. We’re about 45 minutes from downtown San Diego. 35 Read More

Ramona rocks - 1/13/2021
I lived in Ramona for 5 years and enjoyed it very much. The nights are quiet, not busy and it feels like you are way out from San Diego. Close to everywhere. The biggest complaints that I have now is that it's getting very expensive and it's ?? hot. But other than that it was the best place that I lived in the same Diego area. Read More

Beautiful Ramona - 1/14/2008
Ramona is a beautiful, sunny, and very horse friendly community. The entire Ramona area actually has about 40,000 people. Most families commute to work. Because Ramona is a valley on a mountain, the commute is up and down "the hill", which is a mountain grade with a couple different ways to go. One is quite windy and steep, the other is a pretty nice road which is the most traveled road.
If you enjoy horses, it doesn't get any better than Ramona. The only negative is that since there is little rain here, any pasture grazing must be irrigated by well or county water.
Ramona is a family oriented community and has some really good churches. It is between 25-45 minutes to major shopping, depending on where in Ramona you live. Many people never want to leave beautiful Ramona, unless they get frustrated with the growth in population or the high cost of living in Southern California, which is crazy!Read More

San Diego Country Estates - 8/12/2007
Ramona means the Valley of the Sun and the name fits the area. Ramona is a small quaint town with main street with antiques and small restruants that are in keeping with the old time motif of the town.Beautiful equestrian community, approximately 5,000 homes spread out in beautiful, natural environment, people riding horses down trails, joggers, hikers, golf carts and tennis courts, basketball, biking. Really there is something for everyone here. Quiet community with one village store, dry cleaners, etc. Town of Ramona is about 6 miles away with limited shopping, fast food, etc.
You must drive 30 to 40 minutes to larger cities with malls, libraries, etc.
The only real hard downside is the traffic, with only 2 one lane roads in and out of the Estates. And everyone commutes to jobs in San Diego and other local communities.

International Equestrian Center and Casey Tibbs Western Center are available for boarding, events, and arenas, lots of trails to ride.  Read More
