An incredible place to live!
- 5/5/2020
After many years of globe trodding, I came upon Stuart out of sheer luck. I was offered a job at one of the local public schools, and I spent three wonderful years there. My neighbors, my friends, and my bosses could not have been better people. Shops close early and the locals are very polite and friendly. If you want to experience the best hidden jewel of the Treasure Coast, a visit —and maybe even a move there— is definitely in order. I would have never left if it hadn’t been because my family needed me elsewhere.

STUART USED TO BE NICE, NOW IT HAS GONE ROTTEN
- 10/6/2019
.... our horrendous experience owning a home in this area is not based on a "small" or "isolated" incident. Our family has been involved with SE Florida since the mid 1950's, when Stuart did not even have traffic lights. Our current house in Hobe Sound, we have had for around 20 years. The traffic control device for the main intersection in Stuart was once an empty beer keg marking the center of the intersection - literally, no joke. It worked. We have watched sadly as the real estate interests have poisoned the area - the nasty, predatory realtors; the crooked snake-like local lawyers; the hoodlum cops and vengeful contractors who back them up, and the corrupt local politicians who "tend to the cesspool". The area has been poisoned, literally poisoned by the vulture-like realtors, the crooked local lawyers, cops and contractors who back them up - and how could we forget,,,, the corrupt politicians who grease the skids for these abusers of the disabled and elderly. Once

A SERIOUS DANGER ZONE FOR THE DISABLED AND ELDERLY
- 10/6/2019
Think twice before you buy a vacation or winter home in this area of Florida, really, think twice. The realtors are astonishingly lawless, predatory, and truly ruthless as are the local attorneys and law enforcement if God Forbid you express any kind of concern regarding abuse and/or fraud you are subjected to. The police will treat you like a dog. The realtors, lawyers, and law enforcement engage in bullying and blacklisting behavior like in the old days of the Klan. Many of the real estate offices in the area are "all white", even the big companies. A hideous, hideous area. And if you are disabled or elderly - forget you ever heard about this area of Florida, as soon as the realtors and lawyers and their police friends perceive you as disabled or elderly, as far as they are concerned - you are just a piece of meat to be carved up. It is a nasty, nasty area of Florida - it really it. It was one of the biggest mistakes of our lives to have bought a vacation home in this

A little piece of paradise
- 7/21/2013
Stuart is a wonderful small town which sits along the St. Lucie River. A lot of people are taking full advantage of
of the great beaches and wonderful fishing both in the river and offshore. We are known as the Sailfish Capitol
and each December when the cool weather starts to push the fish south you can be sure everyone is out to
catch billfish(most people release) since the fun is all in the hookup and the final catch. The weather is fabulous and if you are a boater it is paradise. The Bahamas are just 90 miles away. Awesome!!! T his town still has that "small-town" feel, low crime and good schools. A great place for kids to grown up. Low taxes and
are property values are finally

Sweet place to live. Most of our neighbor's and us get together always informally to sit on each others patios and chat. The Children all play together and are free to do so as long as they stay on our street. Its great. Too many odd bugs and scary poisons frogs but still is

Becoming a bit more difficult to live here
- 8/6/2006
Quite apart from the past and future hurricanes, (we've had three pass right over us last two seasons), cost-of-living issues and, particularly for my profession, home loan origination, the oversaturation of competition for home loans here, are factors in our decision to relocate to North Carolina as, we learned, are many others. "Returning" to the South is a better way to put it, where people are a bit friendlier and the climate is a bit more amenable,
