Tallahassee, Florida is the capital city of the state and is known for its strong education system, vibrant arts and culture scene, and beautiful natural surroundings. It is a popular destination for young professionals, families, and retirees alike. According to user reviews on BestPlaces.net, a website that collects and analyzes data on cities and neighborhoods, many residents have positive things to say about their experience living in Tallahassee. However, there are also some common complaints that should be taken into consideration.

The people are welcoming and always willing to lend a helping hand." On the other hand, another reviewer named John expresses frustration with the city's job market, stating "Finding a good job in Tallahassee can be tough, especially in certain industries like technology. It's definitely something to consider before moving here."

Another user, Rachel, praises the city's natural beauty and outdoor activities, commenting "I love being able to hike, kayak, and enjoy the outdoors year-round in Tallahassee. The parks and green spaces are well-maintained and a great escape from city life." However, a different review from James mentions the city's lack of public transportation as a downside, stating "Getting around Tallahassee can be a struggle if you don't have a car. The public transportation system is not very reliable and there aren't many bike or pedestrian-friendly areas."

Family Town - 11/23/2010
If you don't have any family, do not move to Tallahassee, Florida. I moved here in 1996 from one of their small towns, but originally I grew up in Denver. Oh! My Lord why did I ever do that. The people in the community slandered me. They put my kids in jail. It is real poverty stricken. I am an african american women and single mother. I was discriminated against here, I was fired off of every job I ever got hired here, my lights were always shut off, and their so called public officials here when I complained to them, they did nothing about i, not even the damn Mayor. There is a historically black college here, florida state(mostly all white) and a all white community college here, and a technical school. So the town caters to the college students. If you are coming here to go to college, get your high school somewhere els, and then apply here, because the cops here are bad about putting you in jail, especially if you are black. A lot of black people in florida have had Read More

Tallahassee sucks. - 5/17/2010
If you live in Tallahassee, it is because you're parents moved you here because of their work, and now you're on your own, you're here for school, or you're off your freakin rocker. Besides getting an education (if you're completely rich) there is nothing to offer here in Tallahassee. Tallahassee's like a sad animal dieing slowly, and just needs to be put out of it's misery. If the resources that were being put into keeping this dieing city of life-support were placed elsewhere, say, Jacksonville, it would probably save at least one of the two cities. So, if anyone has nothing better to do than ride the ship to the bottom of the ocean, come join me in Read More

Having lived in Tallahassee for over 50 years, I can say that it is a great place to live, plenty of entertainment, arts, museums, sports, recreation, churches, shopping and resturants. Climate - 11/24/2008
On the Seinfeld show Jerry said, "Lets all move to Florida and pretend its not hot!" Here in North Florida, we do get some cooler temperatures in the winter months: a few nights below freezing and, rarely, a dip into the teens. Still, it is quite likely you will be running your A/C at some point during the winter. The really hot, sticky, unpleasant weather gets here by May and lasts till sometime in October. If you haven't experienced Gulf Coast heat and humidity, be sure you do before deciding to move here. I have known more that one person to change their plans after visiting.
Tallahassee is in the top dozen cities for rainfall amounts. Unlike the constant drizzle in the Northwest U.S., we get tremendous down pours that often result in flooding of low areas including some roadways. Most of these areas are known to locals, but with new housing developments, sometimes people discover too late that their home is susceptible to flooding. And then, there are all the bugs and Read More
