The LeanderISD has great schools. It is safe, and clean. Somewhat expensive, but not too bad if you are a two income family.[read more...]

Boring suburb next to an overrated city. - 10/10/2010

Austin is an overrated city, but this is not a review of austin. But even fans of Austin will admit that Austin has a traffic problem, and this in turn is due to mediocre mass transit; even by Texas standards. In other words, Cedar Park is your usual boring suburb too far from downtown urban areas to matter. And being next to a supposedly good city, your Cedar Park home will cost more money than many other better suburbs. [read more...]

Cedar Park's Quality of life - 1/18/2010

We have lived in Cedar Park for 17 years and I wouldnt live anywhere else! We started out raising our 2 older children in AndersonMill West and then had 2 more children and moved to Ranch@Cypress Creek. The Quality of life in Cedar Park is wonderful. I wouldnt want my children raised anywhere else. The taxes tend to be somewhat higher than surrounding areas but Cedar Park is a safe, clean city for any family to enjoy. The schools are awesome and we have 2 children that have graduated form CPHS and currently have one in CPMS and one in DeerCreek Elementary. One of our children have some learning disabilites and LISD have been an anwsered prayer for us! I would recommend Cedar Park, Texas to anyone seeking a Quality of Life place to raise their family.[read more...]

Cedar Park, Texas - 7/31/2009

The cops here LOVE to give tickets, tickets, tickets.... Do not speed, keep your inspection sticker and vehicle registration current, Other than that it is peaceful, great place to raise children and the schools are really very good for public schools. The people are friendly for the most part. People from other states come here to live because the cost of living is lower than alot of states, you may rarely meet a native Texan here in Cedar Park. BUT.......................................................................... the PROPERTY taxes are high, and they are based on the ASSESSED value of your home here in Texas. So, if the value goes up, the property taxes go up, and vice versa, so always consider that if transplanting from another state and getting a home, the PITI vs. the actual mortgage payment may shock you. There are lots of things to do, and overall people are very nice and easy to get along with. We are close to Lake Travis and parks are EVERYWHERE!! It gets extremely hot in July, August and September---the rain storms are awesome!!! Hail sometimes, tornados sometimes and we have 5 or 6 hospitals within a 15 mile radius. This community is pretty mellow, the traffic used to be really bad, but our city voted to make it better and it IS better, the toll road is easy and quick to get to especially if you live in Buttercup Creek(the old part) and in Forest Oaks--great places to buy homes in you plan to commute into Austin. And....because the cops are so into their jobs and as annoying as getting a ticket can be it KEEPS the crime rate low!! [read more...]

Cedar Park opinion - 3/11/2006

I have lived in Cedar Park for 9 years. The commute to Austin is about 30 minutes except during rush hour. During rush hour the commute can take 45 minutes to 1 hour. They are currently building an expressway around Cedar Park (183A) to connect to the existing 183 highway. This should greatly improve the traffic condition. The longest part of the commute is getting out of Cedar Park. With the traffic, from the North, routed around the town this should improve rush hour commutes. The current alternative is to leave for work before 6 am. The schools are fair to good and seem to be improving. The home prices are reasonable. You can get a 1500 sqft. home for about $125k or a 2500 sqft. for about $185k. Overall, I would recommend Cedar Park as long as you can put up with the traffic in to Austin. Given that the town is growing at a crazy pace, I would say the town officials have done a reasonably good job at keeping pace with it. There currently are plans in progress to create a new retail/residential downtown area that should be very nice. [read more...]
