Anti-LDS - 2/5/2007
We have lived in Frisco since 1991. We have seen this community grow from 1 grocery store, one middle school and one high school to where it is now. Overall the experience has been great. We have enjoyed the area and loved the schools except for one issue. There is a big anti-LDS movement in the schools. It is mostly centered around athletics, but does spill over in to the classroom. The current district athletic direct and a lot of the coaches he has hired make no bones about their dislike for LDS kids and their families. My son was told by one of his coaches that he was not a Christian, but was a member of a cult. Everyone is entitled to their opinions but I do believe that separation of church and state has been clearly established by our constitution. Imagine how crushing that is to a 16 year old to have his coach tell him he a member of a cult. I know of several LDS kids who have been out right ridiculed in the class room and in sports.
