Friendly - 7/18/2011
My husband and I just moved to Everett from Lynnwood and we love how friendly the people are here. We have lived throughout King County and have never seen people as friendly as they are here. Case in point, my husband and I just moved and we didn't have a lawn mower for about a month and you will not believe this. Our neighbors cut our grass for us and we did not even ask. They are so nice and we love it here. Just like with any area there is always a down side, but somehow the good outweighs the bad for us at least.
We both love the small town feel to Everett and the proximity to the mountains which is great. Did I mention it is very quiet at least in North Everett.[read more...] |

Everettn WA is good but it sure could be better - 7/11/2009
Unfortunately, just today I was threatened with assault inside a Safeway store. The guy didn't want me standing near him while he poured milk into
his Starbucks drink. Am working with our neighborhood to install alley cameras
for crime documentation etc.

Housing with a view - 1/5/2009
We are residents of Everett since 1995. Living in three different homes during that time, within a few miles of each other. We are within walking distance of Howarth Park, Forest Park and a beautiful water view. From here we can see Whidbey Island, along with a Everett City view. Everett provides many locations that enjoy beautiful views of the Puget Sound and the Mountains.[read more...] |

Overpriced real estate... - 10/22/2008
Having lived and worked in Everett for over 30-years it amazes me how expensive property has become. Searching for investment property recently I have found only a few homes under 200k and they were total dumps that would require many thousands of dollars to be made habitable. Fairly decent housing starts around 300k and something you may be proud to own will be 350k and up. If the prices don't bother you, consider the Ever-gray skies and rain 10+ months out of the year. Plus, you generally face a nasty commute to and from work due to extremely weak transportation planning since about 1965. On the positive side of things, water and air quality are good, crime rate is reasonably low and area employment is stable. If this all sounds like a winning combination, Everett just may be your kind of town....

Everett, WA-- Clean, affordable, close to everythi - 9/17/2008
Everett, WA is a great American city that offers just about everything that any family needs. Schools are better than average and housing is reasonable at least compared to many westcoast cities. You are close to everything recreational- boating, fishing, snow skiing, hiking, camping, all within 1.5 hours away. You have some of the most spectacular views in the country with the Cascade mountains nearby. You can go to visit two of the great destination cities in Seattle, 30 minutes away and Vacouver, BC within 2 hours. Everett just built a fabulous convention center for shows and athletic events. The city hosts the premier US exporter's manufacturing plant in the Boeing Co. Yes, the weather seems it is at least cloudy most of the time, and at times, one may need a sun lamp to stay sane, but I'd rather be comfortable in the summer at an average high of 75 degrees than live in some of the humid and hot areas of the country where a/c is needed to survive. crime rate - 7/22/2008
I live here in Everett, Washington and the crime here is only getting worse. It's because more people with guns are coming here. I really love Everett even though in the winter it rains a lot but during the summer months it's very great because I get to go outside. The people are great here. So if you could please review this, that'd be great. Thnk you.[read more...] |

Not a fan . . . - 6/23/2008
I moved to Everett with my family last year and we are looking for somewhere new. It is always rainy and cold and summer last only about a month. The people aren't that great, if you have teen's beware, and there is nothing to do. We looked this place up on the internet before we moved here it looked so pretty and nice, NEVER judge a book by its cover. Probable one of the worst decisions we've ever maid.
P.S.
If anyone reading this does decide to move here do not let your teens go to Seattle alone, very bad news.[read more...] |

I couldn't agree more Donald - 8/15/2007
I moved here from Phoenix a year ago thinking that I would get away from the heat and so what if there is a little rain. I am so tired of rain and mud I'm ready to move back to the heat. 118 degrees isn't all that bad. As far as nothing to do: Even if there is anything to do you can't get there unless you want to spend all day in traffic there and back. There 90,000+ people in Everett and over 1.3 million in Phoenix alone. Rush hour there is 4:30pm to 7:00pm at the latest. Rush hour in Everett is from 11:00 in the morning till 9:00 at night. Where are these people going? There is absolutely no where to go and nothing to do here. It took me an hour to get to the credit union and back and it is only 3.4 miles (approx 9 minutes) according to yahoo maps. I just don't leave the house unless I'm going to work or the store. Everett sucks.[read more...] |

Everett is fine if... - 2/5/2006
I live just 10 minutes south of Everett in Lynnwood. Everett is fine if you dont know any better and have never been anywhere. Not to be disrespectful to the people who love it here, but we get 229 cloudy days, 79 days of partially cloudy and a whopping 57 clear days. Oh did I mention the 160 days of precipitation? We dont get all that much rain, its just that it drizzles ALL of the time. The person living in Everett isnt running into traffic because they arent leaving town. The freeway STOPS on I5 from about hwy 405 to hwy 2 and it crawls. The traffic in the Seattle area is some of the worst. And God forbid it should rain, because traffic comes to a standstill! Like its new to them or something. Lord, I cant wait to get out of this wet climate. The housing market here is inflated and I am going to make a bundle on my house. Thats the only good thing I can say about it. I have lived in Washington, Oregon, Oklahoma, Indiana and San Diego. This area has been the worst for climate, but the best for a place to raise my kids. The Mukilteo school district is the best in the area. If you are into IT there are lots of jobs here. Just plan on living on the outskirts of town and taking the bus. I work downtown Seattle and its a 35 min bus ride each way at $3 each direction. Most employers will pay for 75% of your bus pass because parking is $266/mo downtown! The busses run pretty regularly but you do lose some of your freedom taking the bus. I spend about 30 minutes a day waiting for the bus and then I spend another 30 reading on the way in and 30 sleeping on the way home. Its not all bad, its just that there are nicer places to live than Washington state. Life is too short to live under a cloud.[read more...] |

Biggest little city in Washington - 2/2/2006
It might not be as trendy as its neighbor to the south, Seattle, but Everett residents get perks that posh Seattle-ites might miss out on. For one, the lack of traffic congestion threatening to swallow you alive. You can actually get from point A to point B without wasting half your day. Another noteworthy perk -- the view. True, Everett can't boast giant skyscrapers or enormous sports stadiums. But mountains in your backyard and the Puget Sound lapping against the coast only feet away aren't exactly things to ignore. People are friendly and genuine and there are plenty of things to do, both outdoors and in. Oh, and you can also actually afford to live here -- always a good thing.[read more...] |

Rain, anyone? - 1/5/2006
Overall, not a real bad place, but, like nearby Seattle, you will get more than average rainfall every year. It is yet another example of "give and take". In California, they get "luxury" (sunshine) tax and pay thru the nose for everything. Since we see fewer days of sun, the cost of living here is cheaper. It's also cheaper in the Southeast, if you can stand the very high humidity (i.e Georgia, South Carolina, etc.). The wages are lower, too. Sure, there's scenic beauty here - but it comes at a price of many days of rain. Seattle is the heroin/suicide capitol of the world - the weather is mostly to blame (although the grunge rock is cool). While the summers are nice here, the rest of the time sucks. May thru Semptember is o.k. Truth be told, I'd give anything to be able to afford to move to Southern California, in between L.A. and San Diego. I'm originally from Cali and would love to retire there.[read more...] |
