closed-minded bashing of Hampton
Star Rating - 7/5/2015
I have heard every good and bad thing there is to hear about hampton, and can honestly say it outrages me that so many closed minded people find a city of over 100,000 small and not bursting with opportunity when it is at the heart of the Chesapeake Bay. Hampton is Ghetto? Sure if one teeny part of a giant city is means for you to classify an entire city as ghetto than sure but my entire time living in Hampton I've been able to forget to lock my door or my car and not even bat an eyelash. So my opinion on the people who bash an entire city they want to get out of so bad, its because it simply reminds them of the failure they constantly made due to no fault but their own in this town. Hampton is a beautiful town to raise a family with teachers and businesses that care. Amazing food downtown on the water and a smile at every corner.

Having been deployed all over the world and stationed in the U.S. coast to coast I can honestly say this is the most ghetto place I have ever been...and that includes Djibouti Africa (if you have been there...that's saying something). If you want to witness racism at its finest, come here. I have spent my whole life slightly resenting being white...mainly because of police brutality, history, and the fact that white racists exist. However, I know now that racism goes both ways, and I have experienced more black racists here than I have white racists through out the world. My 9 yo daughter has been called white bitch by grown adults. She has also been beat up by boys older than her for being white. Its gotten to the point to where I installed security cameras in my car port and car so I can keep an eye on her when I have to go inside. One day I witnessed a boy punch her in the back of the head and when I ran outside he sprinted away. 1 hour later half the "hood" shows up with 2 individuals brandishing hand guns in their waists. One of the guys says, "my son says you were going to kill him, is that true?" I respond, "no, all I had time to do was run outside before he was gone." He literally says, "Did the white bitch deserve it?". As much as I wanted to say or do something, there was literally 10-15 people at my door/yard. Eventually they left. 2 weeks later there were 3 people shot and killed all within 5 homes of me....one of the guys killed was the one that made the previous comment. I can't even bring my gf out to dinner without something ghetto and racist happening. Not long ago, I went take her out to dinner and before we get even get to the door some guys roll past and say, "get out of the way white cunt." In the past few weeks I have had to buy a new door for my home because someone spray painted BLM on my door and left a red bandanna on the door knob that said, "no whites". Racism is not a "white problem" it is a people problem and it is bad here. Racism aside, this place is ghetto. People do not care how trashy the roads/yards get. literal trash everywhere. during the summer months, if you are driving through some neighborhoods you can literally smell the trash and the dirty diapers. My daughter was invited to a birthday party and I allowed her. I said to myself, im not going to judge everyone based on a bunch of other people. I regret that decision 100%. I stopped by the party (10 year old kids) to make sure she was doing okay, and the mom answers the door wearing pasties with dmx playing in the background. There were parents smoking weed and twerking in the living room...when I went in, my daughter was sitting on the stairs crying because she was super uncomfortable. I took her home immediately and now the few friends she had aren't friends anymore. Those are just a couple of examples of everything that has happened in just the 10 months I have lived here. Hampton is the perfect example of declining American values. Let me phrase that, Hampton values, morals, and ethics are basically gone. If you have a family and you have a choice, DO NOT move here, you will resent yourself for it. I have never even left a review for a product let alone a city...that should tell you something. This place is so bad I bought a house in Poquoson to keep my family safe. so instead of bitching this whole review...im going to offer a real solution. If you are military and you HAVE to come here buy or rent a home in Poquoson or Yorktown. Yes, you will be using all of your bah, but the schools and safety is worth the cost. Schools in Hampton are ranked 2-3 out of 10 depending on the school. Poquoson is 9 out of 10 and Yorktown is similar. Hamptons crime rate is 173% (Ish) higher than national average. Poquoson is negative 65%....massive difference. As a human being, I wish this place on no family. The school system, the crime rate, and the trash ridden streets say its ghetto...and that's without personal experience and an unbiased view. he crime rate is 174% higher than the national average and ranked in the top 10 worst places to live based on population.

LOL. Apparently 221 people don't agree with you Sarah but what do they know. Let me ask you this Sarah - If you were going to buy, lets say , a widget and it had 162 positive reviews & 221 negative reviews - would you buy that widget?
