Well written by someone who has been a gypsy at heart. I've lived in California (San Francisco), Oregon and Washington. Throw in Las Vegas NV and briefly in Orlando (3 months) and I feel the same way. Originated (raised) in Hawaii. I'm thinking of moving to Jacksonville next year and I'll be looking into the tips you've listed. I'm immersed doing the research since I believe this is where I'll be purchasing my first home. I've thrown in the towel with regard to the West Coast and my hometown of Honolulu....simply too expensive. I own my business which is home based and takes me on the road occasionally for buying trips so this seems like a good match. No kids to worry about regarding the school system so that's another plus. I agree that crime is everywhere and I've experienced rude and unkind people in every state that I've resided. It's a matter of being street smart and doing your homework with regard to residence and how you conduct yourself on a daily basis. Thanks for your insight and I look forward to checking into the towns you've indicated!
