Susanville is a city with a economy based on the state prison system and other government jobs. There are many
recreational outdoor activities available in the region. Crime does not seem to be a major problem in most parts of
the city. People are generally very friendly and care about the community. I have lived in Susanville for the past
20 years and have not been victimized by any criminal activity. The summers tend to be very hot with short fall and
spring seasons. Winters are not that severe when compared to most mountainous regions. The economy of the region
is not in good condition at this time because of increased state taxes and poor tax climate for business.
