Midland, TX is NOT the place for you if you want to find a career in anything but oilfield work. Midland does not welcome poor people. Midlanders look down on people that don't make six figure salaries. The rent for a two-bedroom apartment in a ghetto neighborhood is over $1k. Housing is scarce, thus goes to the highest bidder. You might spend $300k on a house that shouldn't be worth more than $100k. You DON'T want to buy a house here if you don't plan on living here for the rest of your life, because you will likely end up losing a lot of your hard earned money.
