Do you have a particular skill or profession? Low wage hourly jobs are abundant in many areas of the state. As is the case with most places, higher paying jobs tend to be concentrated in the bigger metro areas, like Nashville. Nashville is the economic center of the state now. It is booming. You might look at some of the medium-sized communities within an hour’s drive of there to keep the housing cost down and some of that country charm you are after while still getting the benefits of the halo effect of Nashville’s economy. You might find the labor markets of small communities really tough unless you have training or skills the community needs.
