Review of Portland, Maine

Why would someone write a fake review
Star Rating - 8/24/2016
Why do people write fake reviews? Do you somehow have a grudge against a certain city? How odd. Nobody lived in Portland, ME for any length of time wouldn't know the state abbreviation, especially not somebody BORN here. Did you have a mailing address or were you homeless? JC. It is Portland, ME not Portland, MA. MA is for Massachusetts. People here in Portland, ME are very proud of their city. I have never seen such city pride but it must mean people are really happy here.

Go ahead. Scour the internet for comment sections and fourms about Portland, ME. I'm sure you will consistently find that people from Portland, ME stand up for their city and are so proud that they actually get offended by negative comments. We love it here despite the winters. What may be the coolest thing about our city is that we don't tolerate bullying of citizens that live here. I see some pretty strange people here but it's their life choice and not mine. It's kind of hippyish here. Very laid back. The population is kinda dense but that's because everyone wants to live here!

This is a classic example of how people think here and how intolerant they are or tend to be. They find excuses like a typo to judge the "non authenticity" of a comment. As somebody above has always said, chill, you don't give a good impression. What does it mean "we don't tolerate bullying of citizens that live here." and "I see some pretty strange people here but it's their life choice and not mine.". There is a limit to be "strange" as you say, if you get just saying drunk and are obnoxious or you are a racist and an intolerant it's a very bad choice and you have to do something for it, you have to adjust it. And if people give you a feedback you have to first hear it with open-mindness(I know, and hard concept) and not taking it so nastly. You have to take the feedback and understand it. Plus, there is very little to be proud of here.

Shelley, chill. It was probably a typo. Your freak-out doesn't give a good impression of the city at all.

The Portland, MA comment you reference may also have been a joke, since several people have mentioned an influx of Bostonians. Lighten up!

"we don't tolerate bullying of citizens here..." unless it's us doing the bullying of Trump supporters.

Have you read it? Wasn't a joke. The person claimed to have grown up here and wrote a negative review. Nobody that grew up here would make that mistake. I seriously doubt it was a typo either since the letter E and the letter A aren't even in the same row on the keyboard. School teachers here make sure that students know the proper state abbreviation because there are 8 states that start with the letter M. I'll never forgot a story one teacher told. He used the correct state abbreviation on a piece of mail and his mail still ended up in the another M state. Maybe it was his handwriting or maybe it was human error but he recommended we write, "Maine". NOBODY that went to school in Maine wouldn't know that. How hard is it to remember 2 letters? Anybody that has ever mailed anything here should know their state abbreviation. That's so basic and important since there are multiple Portlands in our country. People here aren't that stupid. It's embarrassing. For some reason a lot of people that haven't been here have the wrong idea. They think that we're a bunch of idiots in a town with 2 street lights. We just don't need somebody that isn't even from here going out of their way to prove the stereotype. People on this website are comparing places to live they may never know anything more about Portland than what they read here. Tourism is a huge industry here and I actually find it offensive that somebody would take the time to make up a negative review.
