Review of Prescott, Arizona

Why we moved to Arizona
Star Rating - 3/15/2008
We have been visiting Arizona since 1972 and traveled through much of it. In 1992 we bought 5 acres in a rural-like area north of Prescott. We built a home in 1998 and since that time the area around us has become dotted with homes at a rate that has been mind-boggling. We moved here becuase of the rural-lke neighborhood, and for health reasons. We also liked the small-town atmosphere that was here then. With the latest frenzy of road-building, house-building, land speculation, housing developments, etc. the attractiveness of the area has much diminished. Added to that is the resistance on the part of decision-makers to address the need to ensure that our existing water supply suggests that there are severe water shortages on the near horizon. With many people moving here from non-arid climates they need to realize that those things that they enjoyed elsewhere need to be abandoned; e.g., lawns, landscaping with water-demanding plants, swimming pools, etc.
