Review of Burlington, Vermont

Burlington, VT --Excellent, 5-stars!
Star Rating - 7/9/2010
I absolutely LOVE Burlington and would love to meet others who share the same belief. I honestly don't think you can go wrong with Burlington. The only cautionary I would advise you of, is you MUST be okay with long and COLD winters... they're brutal!

Over all, Burlington is artsy, progressive, liberal, full of musicians (though not as many as Asheville, NC), writers, and artists. It is organic and health-conscious. I heard Ithaca, NY is, too :) It's political and full of activism (similar to Northampton, MA), hip, vibrant, a good arts scene w/poetry and open Mic on Monday's at Radio Bean.

Burlington is beautiful... in the state of VT, billboards are prohibited to preserve the natural beauty :) Burlington is truly "home" to me and my first "home" away from home. I love it.

I am wondering if it's similar to Eugene, OR? ...or even Portland, OR though obviously much smaller! I have never been to OR, but would love to meet someone who has and maybe road trip together ;)

At any rate, you cannot go wrong in Burlington if you can tolerate the winters!

@ Megan, Couldn't agree with you more . I moved here from living in NYC all my life. I have found it to be the most racist state I could possibly see the only diversity I see is always cleaning a bathroom never in a office or real place of business. I am not kidding I see plenty of diversity walking in to Shaws or price chopper applying for jobs and you only see white faces during business hours and even in over night never a diverse face despite the applications I have seen in my yr. of being here. This is an incredibly nosey talk behind your back and not real accountability kind of place. When people are told about their actions they quickly talk about their guns. Yes and it's always a white person who does it. It's so sad to because aside from the views trails and snow I mean epic amounts of snow. It looks nice but it isn't where you want to be. Just ski and leave don't move here and if you have kids DON'T THINK ABOUT MOVING HERE. the school systems they are not all that whole school choice gimmick is a real joke and is a way of social segregation which just fuels social indifference in children. I am not going back to NYC but I know I am outta here. As soon as a job opens up in another state where I can afford to live and live with out so much racism

I'm guessing that family money affords you to live in Burlington. I grew up there and can not afford to go back. Burlington is full of trust fund babies. Just look at all the straight teeth and expensively LL Bean clothed youngsters in the Church St. bars.

woudl love to pick your brain on relocating to VT (Burlington or Montpelier is where I'm thinking). Do you chat on anything else but yahoo? If so, I'd love to talk. Thank you! Richey richey.franchise@outlook.com
